After beginning her own home bookkeeping business in 1994, Betty Penny recognized the need of a formal organization to support entrepreneurs and home businesses. She organized a meeting of her own personal contacts, including home and small business owners as well as regional officials, to find out if there was any interest in supporting such an organization. The response was overwhelming and, as a result, the Durham Home Business Association (DHBA) was formed. Through steady growth, this non-profit group expanded to officially include small businesses in its name and is now known as the Durham Home &, Small Business Association (DH&SBA). DH&SBA continues to challenge home and small business owners to be the best by promoting a code of ethics and by offering workshops, networking sessions and special meetings. In order to stay tuned into the business environment and help stimulate healthy growth DH&SBA takes an active role in the community, liaising closely with other business groups, government agencies and young entrepreneurs. Members can display business card brochures and cards prior to meetings and participate in informal networking sessions following the meeting. One member is profiled at each meeting - thus providing everyone with a detailed description of the services they offer. If you're interested in being profiled, please contact us now.
