The New Zealand Oracle Users Group was founded in 1989. In our early years we were part of the Australia New Zealand Oracle User Group (ANZORA). But in 1997 we decided to sever the ties with Australia and we are now a separate group.

This group is for all Oracle users and is a forum to share ideas and interests. We are always open to new ideas about how we can improve the NZOUG so please email through your ideas to a member of the committee.

Since the merger of Oracle, Peoplesoft and JDE we have joined forces with the NZ Peoplesoft & JDE users to create a large user group to assist all "Oracle" users in New Zealand to maximise their return on the investment they have made in what is now Oracle Technology.

We look forward to working with all Oracle Users in New Zealand to achieve this goal.

BitNet (Business Information Technology Network) operates as an association of individuals, businesses and organizations with a common interest in the practical and innovative use and development of technology, to the benefit and prosperity of the Golden Horseshoe community.

Meetings feature professional development speakers on a wide range of topics to assist the members with building value in their business offering. Members are invited to submit a professional profile for consideration on future NewPath Consulting client projects and have access to a variety of resources including the very active NewPath Yahoo Group and discussion list.

Our outward focus and marketing efforts are directed toward the Not-For-Profit and Social Enterprise sectors, and a significant proportion of our members have extensive experience with these client segments. Our goal is to conceive, develop and implement technology initiatives that empower these organizations to reach their Social Mission objectives in a completely self-sustaining manner.

While the NewPath membership has a definite slant toward information technology (developers and development managers), it is not exclusive to IT professionals. Rather, it embraces a wide spectrum of talent including graphic design, writing and copy services, business development & strategic consulting, human resources & training, fundraising, finance, marketing & communications, public relations, event management and other related fields.

We hold monthly (physical site) networking meetings on the last Wednesday of each month in downtown Toronto.

We maintain a moderated Yahoo! Group with a discussion forum and a library of resources including member profiles, CV's and information databases.

In 2004, our little coffee shop networking meetings evolved into a new phase of existence that is delivering increased value to members and a more serious message of creating, building and doing business as a networked community of IT and related business professionals. We currently hold regular monthly meetings on the last Wednesday of the month.

We have a structured framework for each meeting consisting of a “Welcome and new business”, round-table 60 second introductions, a Professional Development Segment and a free-form networking session at the end of each meeting with light food and cocktails.

For the Professional Development segments, we invite speakers from both inside and outside the NewPath network to present on real issues that touch our members as freelance and independent business people.
